East Fork Gallery is celebrating its fourth annual miniature art show Sunday.

To qualify as a miniature, artists create small paintings no larger than 1/6 the actual size of the subject. Most are about a 5×7.

“It’s really popular with the local artists and our patrons,” Janice Powell Shedd said. “They’re small and they fit on walls easier, and they’re more affordable.”

There are more than 40 miniatures entered in the show being judged by artist Karen Aleman.

“It’s hard to fit something into that small of a space and make it appealing,” Shedd said. “It showcases a different side of an artist’s ability.”

The gallery is also hosting its 36th anniversary reception in conjunction with the show 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

There will be door prizes, food and refreshments. Artwork will be available for sale.

“Come one, come all and bring your friends,” Shedd said. “There’s some beautiful little gems.”

East Fork Gallery is located at 1502 Highway 395, Suite K in Gardnerville.
