Douglas high thespians stage international festival fundraiser
Douglas High School Drama is hosting a fundraiser for students to attend the International Thespian Festival.
A State Thespian Showcase featuring state qualifiers and others is 7 p.m. May 9-10 in the drama room of the high school.
Internationals takes place at the University of Lincoln in Lincoln, Neb., in June, and the cost to attend is more than $1,000 per student
“The competition is only one part of the week-long activities, which include a few hundred workshops from professionals and educators in the entertainment and performing arts industry, plays and musicals performed by high schools across the country, nightly dances and a grand ball,” troupe director Amy Sando said. “Colleges are also there holding auditions for their programs.”
Those students receiving a superior rating and qualifying for the International Thespian Festival this June are Dalton Miller, Kai Stoll and Kateline Teigen in monologues; Cooper Whittemore and Kai Stoll and Leah Heydman and Jordan Sullivan in duet scenes; Chyanne Fishcher in stage management and top superior and Jimmy Rich in short film and top superior.
