Homegrown band Buster Blue will play a special album release show at The Knitting Factory in Reno on Friday.

Buster Blue’s six members have been hard at work on their latest album, titled “Sleep Less Where the Heart Is.” It was self-recorded and produced in band mate Brendon Lund’s basement in Reno. Buster Blue is no stranger to touring; they’ve built a strong fan base on the allure and energy of their live performances, and are eager to get back out on the road.

The release show will feature a, “reinvention of the band, with new members (Billy Dohr and Fil Corbett) and a new energy that we are really excited about,” said band member Andy Martin. Like most of his Buster Blue bandmates, Corbett grew up and attended school in Douglas County. Dohr hails from Reno. The other band members are Moses Jones and Rachael McElhiney.

The show also features grassroots rock-and-roll band Moondog Matinee, along with singer/songwriter Lucas Young. The Buster Blue crew counts both acts as personal friends, and Martin endorses them as “brilliant.”

Much like the headliners, Moondog Matinee’s five members emphasize the live performance. Their sound is a blend of “old school blues and progressive rock-and-roll with experimental openness that transcends musical genres.”

Young has been crafting his own songs for nearly two decades. He says, “a new song fills my heart with hope. Hope for change in myself, for a better future, a hope I’m doing my part to keep the love light shining bright.” His acoustic shows are a blend of “urban folk Americana with a touch of Texas.”

Tickets are $10 presale and $15 at the door. The all-ages show starts at 7:30 p.m.
