4-H Fall Family Costume Ball on Saturday
Families may wear their favorite costumes, and enjoy an evening of dancing and fall-themed activities Oct. 24 thanks to Douglas County 4-H.
Douglas County 4-H and the parks and recreation department are hosting their annual Fall Family Costume Ball 5:30-9 p.m. at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Gardnerville.
This event is for the whole family and you don’t have to be a 4-H member to attend.
Admission includes dancing and contests.
The evening activities include a costume contest with cash prices, a “bring a decorated pumpkin” contest, food and dancing.
Costume contest, and “Bring a Decorated Pumpkin” contest include youth and adult categories.
Costume contest cash prizes were donated by Joe Benigno’s Tree Service.
All costume and pumpkin contest winners are chosen on originality and creativity.
Because the event is family friendly, costumes should not be too scary or gory.
The five costume and pumpkin contest categories are: youth ages 8 and under, youth ages 9-12, youth ages 13-18, adult ages 19 and up, and family/group (2 or more in a family/group).
Other activities available the night of the ball for additional charge include carnival games, a silent auction, raffle prizes and refreshments.
All youth must be accompanied by an adult and may not attend unaccompanied.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with carnival booths and submission entries for the decorated pumpkins contest and dance 6:30 to 9 p.m., costume contest and pumpkin contest awards will take place towards the beginning of the dance.
Admission is $5 per person, or $20 for a family of five, age 4 and under free.
