Showcase connects businesses, consumers

Nearly 1,000 people connected with the dozens of different businesses and organizations during the 26th annual Carson Valley Business Showcase Thursday at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center.

Hosted by the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Showcase is an opportunity for local businesses to showcase their products and services to a diverse audience while residents and visitors explore and connect with what Carson Valley has to offer. 

This year, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Alicia Main said there were fewer numbers of attendees, but better quality.

“It was well attended by both vendors and attendees allowing to make great connections,” she said.

The showcase featured sponsors Carson Valley Health, The Record-Courier, SCORE, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and Douglas County.

During the showcase restaurants, caters, and food manufactures sampled their culinary delights, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and East Fork Fire & Paramedics showed off some of their life-saving equipment and outreach efforts, and Eastside Memorial Park featured the Vietnam Moving Wall returning to the Valley May  23-28.

New to the Business Showcase was family owned and operated Carson Valley Cabinets.

After over 25 years in the construction industry and serving Carson Valley, Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas owner Scott Smith said Carson Valley Cabinets is the next chapter in a fifth generation story of small-town services and values.

“We are excited to be at the showcase and introducing ourselves to the community, it’s a great place to connect,” said Smith’s daughter Jocelyn Clark.

Returning to the showcase were nonprofits Carson Valley Food Closet providing food and resources for the community, and Partnership Douglas County promoting a healthy and sober community.

“It’s great to connect with the community and introduce them to our services, sometimes you don’t know who needs assistance and this helps make people aware of what’s out there,” said Partnership Assistant Administrator Daene Escamilla

The Chamber of Commerce commended all participating vendors and attendees.
