Grant Denny (Douglas, ’11), fr., Feather River: Feather River won the rodeo at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo over the weekend with 655 team points.


Bethany Wurster (Douglas ’10), fr., Oregon State: The Beavers took 11th at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Tournament at Half Moon Bay. .


Chris Balcom-Miller (Douglas ’06), P, Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox Double-A): Balcom-Miller is 1-1 through three starts with a 4.26 ERA. He has eight strikeouts in 12.2 innings.

Jordan Hadlock (Douglas, ’08), sr., C, Cal Poly: The Mustangs are 21-14 on the year after dropping two of three to Cal State Northridge.

Tyler Hoelzen (Douglas, ’09), jr., P, Sacramento State: The Hornets took two of three from No. 25 New Mexico State last week and topped UC Davis 8-5. Hoelzen has appeared in 18 games, striking out 21 and walking just eight in 18 innings of work.

Shane Fencl (Douglas, ’11), fr., SS, Feather River: Fencl has played in 12 games for the Golden Eagles and has a pair of doubles and an RBI.

Matt Thomas (Douglas, ’11), fr., P, Feather River: Thomas is 3-0 with a save on the year with a 0.83 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 21.2 innings pitched. He pitched a complete-game shutout against Siskiyous last week, striking out five and walking none.

Walker Gemmill (Douglas, ’11), fr., C, Lassen: Gemmill is batting .239 in 33 games with three doubles and 15 RBIs.

Troy Torres (Douglas, ’09), soph., INF, Lassen: Torres is batting .329 on the year in 22 games with six doubles, a home run and 23 RBIs.

Cody Lommori (Douglas, ’11), fr., 1B, American River: Lommori is batting .224 in 28 games with 15 RBIs and three doubles.


Stephanie Harper (Douglas, ’09), jr., P/1B, Concord: Concord swept a doubleheader vs. Bluefield State and dropped a pair of games to West Virginia State. Harper is 7-9 with 35 strikeouts.

Rebecca Nelson (Douglas), fr., 2B, Western Nevada: The Wildcats have won seven of eight games, including a doubleheader sweep of North Idaho on Saturday.

Devyn Hotho (Douglas), fr., IF, St. Olaf College: Hotho is currently out with a foot injury.

Jessica Waggoner (Douglas, ’09), soph., Army: Army won the five-team conference meet at West Point last week. Waggoner easily won the discus event by 16 feet with a throw of 153-04.

Wade Meddles (Sierra Lutheran, ’10), soph., Azusa Pacific: Did not run last week.

Davey Fisher (Douglas, ’09), jr., Pacific Lutheran: No meet last week.

Garrett Tenney (Douglas, ’10), soph., Jamestown College: Tenney took seventh in the discus (138-08) and eighth in the hammer throw (138-11) at the Sioux City Relays.

Bri Burnside (Douglas, ’11), fr., College of Siskiyous: Burnside took 17th at the Chico Twilight Invitational with a throw of 97-10.

Craig Stratton (Douglas, ’10), fr., San Joaquin Delta College: Stratton tied for first in the pole vault at the San Mateo meet after clearing 14-8.
