At the recent Galena High School Junior Satellite Tennis Tournament, two of the three Carson Valley participants won their divisions.

In the boys’ 18 division, Cody Tindel, 17, won his first round 6-3, 6-3 and in the second he pulled off an upset against Galena’s Domini Aramini, winning 7-6, 6-4.

In the finals, he lost to Anthony Castelli, also from Galena, 6-3, 6-4.

Casteli has the game to be a zone title contender this year and Tindel appears to not be far behind.

Madelyn Landerfelt, 13, played up in the girls’ 16 division and defeated three opponents en route to winning the division.

Of the three opponents, one was the No. 1 player at McQueen last season and another was the No. 1 at Galena. Landerfelt won that match 6-1, 6-2.

Sasha Munoz, 13, won the girls’ 14 division with a finals score of 6-3, 6-3.

Munoz, a power baseline player, plans to play for Douglas High next semester.
