All 4 Charity crab & steak cookout Friday

The eighth annual "All 4 Charity" King Crab Feed & Steak Cookout is Friday at 6 p.m. at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center.
The event has raised $150,000 and donated all funds to many worthy Douglas County Programs. Proceeds from the event this year will support Me for Incredible Youth (MEFIYI) and Douglas High School's volleyball program.
MEFIYI's REWARD Club Program provides life skills, sports education and job-career training for middle school and high school student-athletes.
The Big Heart Rock and Roll Band will provide an acoustic classic rock entertainment that will include raffle, silent and live auction. Tickets are $40 for either the one-pound king crab or 12-ounce ribeye steak dinner. Online tickets are available or may be purchased at Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce. Couples league at Carson Valley GC
Carson Valley Golf Club is hosting a couples golf tournament on Saturday at 8 a.m.

The format is 3 clubs and a putter, and players must have an established handicap to play in the event. The cost is $50 per person.

Youth bowling sign-ups Aug. 26
Wink's Silver Strike Lanes youth program sign-ups will be held on Aug. 26.
Registration will be taken from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Wink's Silver Strike Lanes in the Gardnerville Ranchos. The cost is $35 overall or $9 per a week for bowling, which includes a shirt as well as local and national registration through the U.S. Bowling Congress.
Preparation is also underway for the high school bowling club season. The cost for the season is $125, which covers registration for the High Desert Interscholastic Bowling Program. Practice will begin in late September and the season gets under way in early December.

Sheriff's office hosts hunter safety class
A hunter safety class is being hosted by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office on Aug. 19 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
The class at the sheriff's office administration building in Minden will cover several topics including but not limited to, wilderness survival, gun safety, wildlife habitat and conservation, archery and hunting regulations.

Pancreatic cancer fundraiser on Sept. 16
Three sports — golf, running and power lifting — will be featured on Sept. 16 when the Carson City Kiwanis Club presents its fourth annual Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Golf Tournament at Silver Oak Golf Course in Carson City.
In addition to the golf tournament, a four-person scramble scheduled for 9 a.m., a 5K fun run is set for 8 a.m. and the Carson City Bench Press Championships from 7-9 a.m.
The golf tournament fee is $90 per player, which includes range balls as well as lunch and prizes. Lunch tickets for guests can be purchased for $10. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.
The 5K fee is $30 and $10 for the kids half-mile 12-and-under fun run. The bench press fee is $10 for three lifts, with a variety of categories available.
Proceeds benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network as well as the Carson City Kiwanis scholarship fund.
