Slick Racing takes points lead
August 3, 2012
Slick Racing, a Douglas County-based drag boat team, competed recently at Dexter Reservoir in Lowell, Oregon, in a Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series sanctioned event.
The team took second place, which puts it in the No. 1 points position for the overall season standings.
Paul “Slick” and Nancy Fontenot, owners of Slick Racing, showed up to the third racer of the year at Oregon in the No. 2 position with the attitude of ‘unfinished business’.
After qualifying sixth with an 8.04 in the 8.00 second Pro Eliminator Class on Saturday, they went into Sunday eliminations with a positive attitude.
Sunday morning, after taking a first round win, the team matched up against the points leader in the second round.
This was a big match up for the team because they held their own destiny in their hands.
