Gough, Puzey to be inducted into Douglas Hall of Fame
February 6, 2014
Tammy Gough and Brittany Puzey came to Douglas High School together as sophomore transfers in 2002 and together helped the girls basketball team earn three straight trips to the Northern 4A regional tournament semifinals before they graduated in 2005.
Tonight, they will be inducted into the Douglas Basketball Hall of Fame together during a ceremony to be held at halftime of the boys game between the Tigers and Bishop Manogue. No doubt, some great memories will be rekindled.
As seniors during the 2004-05 season, Gough and Puzey were key players for a Douglas squad that posted a 22-8 record — the second highest single-season win total in program history.
Gough, a three-year starter at point guard (she moved from Windsor, Calif.), was an excellent floor leader and second-team all-league pick her senior year. The 5-foot-7 Gough averaged five assists per game that season and was a consistent outside shooting threat.
She went on to earn a spot as a freshman on the women's basketball team at Sierra College (Rocklin, Calif.).
Puzey was a three-year starter at forward (after moving from Carson High) who twice received first-team all-league and second-team all-region recognition for Douglas. She averaged 15.3 points per game (with a single-game high of 26 points) as a senior.
