Second quarter run lifts JV girls to win

The Douglas High JV girls basketball team surged into the lead in the second quarter and never looked back Friday on the way to a 40-33 Sierra League win at home against Galena. Four different players scored during an 11-2 run in the second period as Douglas (6-2 overall, 2-1 league) turned a four-point deficit into a 20-15 halftime lead. The win was a good one for the Tigers, who overcome some injuries and the challenges of finals week in the classroom, according to coach David Pfaffenberger. “The girls played well tonight.
