Defense propels Douglas J.V. girls past Falcons

A ball hawking defense helped lead the Douglas High JV girls basketball team to a 36-18 victory at home on Friday against the Sierra Lutheran varsity. Douglas (5-2 overall, 1-1 league) forced 38 turnovers and limited Sierra Lutheran (2-3) to 8-for-27 shooting from the field. “This was by far the best defense we had played yet this year,” Douglas coach David Pfaffenberger said. “Our press was outstanding and forced several turnovers and (led to) points.” A 15-3 run through the second quarter put Douglas (5-2) in charge of the contest.
