Paul Mills, Bishop Manogue Catholic High School’s head football coach, will leave that position as of Dec. 1.
Manogue ended its fall season two weeks ago with a 3-5 overall record, 1-3 in Sierra League play. The Miners dropped a 26-16 decision at Douglas on Oct. 18. One week before that, however, Manogue emerged as a 30-20 victor to hand Galena its first loss of the season (the Grizzlies are playing Reed in the region semifinals tonight).
Mills took over as head coach of the Manogue program in 2005.
At this point, Mills will continue his role as Department Chair and teacher with the school’s physical education department. Principal Rick Harris said in a statement on Wednesday it was the right time for a change.
“We are very appreciative of all that Paul has done for Bishop Manogue, and for the impact he has had over the years on our players and our program,” stated Harris. “We are ready to move in a new direction and feel it will be in everyone’s best interest if we take those steps under new leadership.”
