The R-C Morning Report for Oct. 11

A backhoe that clipped a power line reportedly started a small fire near Sorensen Resort in Hope Valley at 3:53 p.m. Thursday. The fire didn’t spread, but it is a reminder that it’s still awful dry out in the world.

The Rim fire may be out of the news, but it still isn’t out. Containment is at 95 percent and isn’t expected to hit 100 percent until Oct. 27. There’s still an 800-1,000-acre pocket of vegetation near Kibbie Lake that could burn.

We had a little shaker northeast of Mud Lake at 3:01 a.m. According to the Nevada Seismology Lab it was a 1.46 magnitude about 11 kilometers down.

The weather today through the weekend is going to be sunny and cool. Today expect a high of 68 degrees. Saturday the high’s forecast to be 66 degrees and then cooling to 61 degrees on Sunday.
