Damonte spikers top Douglas

The Douglas volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at home Tuesday night against Damonte Ranch in a Sierra League match.

Douglas (0-7 league, 16-10 overall) lost by game scores of 25-17, 25-22, 25-23.

Damonte Ranch stayed in the hunt for league first-place.

Douglas defeated Damonte Ranch in two straight games to improve its season record to 14-0. The game scores were 25-17, 25-16.

Emma Sperry handed out 20 assists for the Tigers. Sophie Byrne led the team at the net with five kills, while Shannon Leiss added four.

Brynn Rothfusz rang up 15 service points, including three aces, to help the Tigers improved to 10-4. Kaitlyn Palaroan was all over the floor with 10 digs, while Natasha Culpepper had six kills and one solo block, coach Klaus Leitenbauer noted.
