Golf: Douglas High School finishes 3rd at Arrowcreek

The Douglas High boys’ golf team is playing its best golf of the season coming down the stretch toward the regional tournament.

The thing is, coach Brent Eddy believes his team hasn’t reached its peak yet.

Douglas took third place at the Sierra League meet at Arrowcreek Wednesday, posting a team score of 446 to finish behind league frontrunners Galena (405) and Manogue (408).

“I am confident we have the ability to play better as a team,” Eddy said. “We are going to keep working hard to get where we want to be.”

Douglas strengthened its hold on third place in the overall season standings while Manogue leads the pack and Galena stands in second. Damonte Ranch, Carson and Wooster run fourth through sixth.

Shane Pyle led Douglas on Wednesday, shooting an 80 to take fourth overall.

Cody Tindel and Gary Schlee each shot an 89, Zander Ghan shot a 92, Mike Doyle shot a 96 and Jake Mariani shot a 108.

Douglas next plays at Eagle Valley West next week.
