The Douglas softball team swept a pair of games from Galena in Reno Saturday afternoon, winning 8-4 and 6-5.
Kelly Sonnemann got things rolling in Game 1, hitting a two-run home run for the early lead.
Makayla Shaver hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning of Game 2 to provide the needed cushion for the win.
Douglas improved to 10-4 overall on the year and 4-2 in Sierra League play with the wins.
Katie Kluever led the Tigers at the plate in the first game, going 3-for-4 while Allison Meyer and Julia Gomez each doubled and Leonna Mortimer, Illiana Brown and Kali Sargent each singled. Mortimer and Gomez each drove in a pair of runs and Sargent and Kluever each drove in one.
Sargent picked up the win in the circle, striking out seven and walking none.
In the second game, Maddie Parks went 3-for-4 at the plate, Mortimer and Brown each drove in a run and Meyer collected a pair of hits.
Parks, Kaitlyn Bowman and Meyer all doubled. Bowman picked up the win striking out one and walking none, and Sargent picked up her first career save at the varsity level.
