The Douglas boys golf team took third at the Sierra League tournament at Rosewood Lakes Monday afternoon.
Douglas shot a team score of 428, coming in behind tournament champ Manogue (391) and Galena (403). Damonte Ranch was fourth at 445 and Carson was fifth at 460, followed by Wooster.
Manogue’s Harrison Holetz and Galena’s Narayan Gill led the individual standings, each shooting a 74.
Douglas was led by Shane Pyle, who shot an 80. Mike Doyle shot an 81, Colin Brooks came in at 84, Jason Connolly shot a 91, Zander Ghan shot a 92 and Gary Schlee shot a 92.
“We had a solid team score,” Douglas coach Brent Eddy said. “I am really happy with the way some of our new kids are performing.
“Colin Brooks shot an 84 in only his second varsity tournament while Jason Connolly and Gary Schlee each shot in the low 90s. It is great to see the kids coming together so well. If we keep working to get better, things will turn out well for this team. I am excited about the commitment level of the group. The kids are spending extra time on the range each night and it will pay off for them.”
