Search for next of kin continues in 395 fatal

Trouble locating the family of a pedestrian killed last weekend on Highway 395 in Double Spring Flat has delayed the release of his identity.

Douglas County authorities are contacting surrounding agencies to obtain help in the search of next of kin.

The man was struck by a pickup on Aug. 10 while reportedly standing in the highway.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. Witnesses or anyone else with more information are asked to contact Trooper Chris Kelly at (775) 689-4661 or ckelly@dps.state.nv.us regarding case No. NHP-140801011.

In an unrelated incident, two people received nonlife-threatening injuries in a collision at the intersection of Kingsbury Grade and Foothill Road on Thursday morning.

According to the preliminary investigation, California resident Del Warren Foster, 67, was driving down the grade when he collided with another pickup in the intersection at about 8 a.m.

A 2005 Dodge Dakota driven by Gardnerville resident Lonnie Bennett was struck on the right front. According to the NHP, Foster continued through the intersection and struck a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Minden resident Kevin Winter, while Winter was stopped at the sign.

The intersection was closed while troopers investigated.

Anyone with information about the Foothill accident is asked to contact Trooper Max Davis at (775) 687-0400 or mdavis@dps.state.nv.us regarding case No. NHP-140801277.
