Adams earns region track honor

Douglas High School junior Lindsey Adams was honored as Female Athlete of the Year and Runner of the Year on the Northern Division I All-Region list.

Adams, successfully defended her region titles in the 800 and 1,600 meters, ran a leg for the Tigers’ gold medal 4x400 relay team and placed second in the 3,200. She placed third at the state meet in Carson City in the 800 (2:14.79) and the 1,600 (5:02.35) — setting school records in both events.

On the boys side, Douglas senior Marshall McKown was named Field Athlete of the Year after winning the discus and placing second in the shot put at the region meet. McKown placed second at the state meet, breaking his own school record with a throw of 173-10, and third in the shot put with a school record throw of 55-7-1/2.

The individual honors were selected by vote of coaches in the North. First- and second-team selections were based on place finishes at the region meet.
