Shane Pyle led a young Douglas High boys golf team Tuesday during its Sierra League season-opening tournament at Wolf Run Golf Club.
Pyle shot 85 to finish 10th overall on the leader board. Bishop Manogue junior Harrison Holetz was the medalist with a 70.
Douglas finished fifth as a team with a 528 score. Manogue, with each of its six players cracking the tournament’s top 10, posted a first-place total of 377. Galena was second at 424, followed by Carson (447), Damonte Ranch (492), Douglas and Wooster (567).
Sophomore Collin Brooks shot 96 to emerge as the Tigers’ second finisher. Senior Zander Ghan also shot 99, freshman Nick Pedroza 122 and sophomore Landon Whitley 126. Sophomore Logan Miller rounded out the team’s lineup.
The next Sierra League match is scheduled for April 8 at Eagle Valley Golf Course. Play tees off at 11 a.m. on Eagle Valley’s West Course.
