Sierra Lutheran High’s boys and Coleville’s girls begin Division IV Northern Region Tournament play Thursday at two sites in Reno.
Sierra Lutheran (15-8) opens in the region boys tournament with a 4:40 p.m. contest against Wells (19-6) at Wooster High School. Sierra Lutheran is the No. 3 seed from the Western Division and Wells the No. 2 seed from the East.
In other boys games, Mineral County takes on Owyhee at 4:40 p.m. and Whittell plays Eureka at 8 p.m. in games at North Valleys, while Virginia City plays McDermitt at 8 p.m. at Wooster.
The Coleville girls (14-7) open at 3 p.m. at North Valleys against Eureka (24-2). Coleville comes in as the No. 4 seed from the West and Eureka as the the No. 1 seed from the East. Eureka is the defending region and state tournament champion.
In other first-round match-ups, Mineral County plays McDermitt at 3 p.m. and Smith Valley faces Wells at 6:20 in games at Wooster, while Pyramid Lake plays Jackpot at 6:20 p.m. at North Valleys.
The boys and girls semifinals will be played Friday at North Valleys. The championship games are set for Saturday at North Valleys, where the girls play at noon and the boys at 2 p.m.
