Prause, Menezes lead men’s golf club tournament play

For the second straight week, Marc Prause outlasted Marc Menezes to win the A Flight in Carson Valley Men's Golf Club tournament play.

Prause carded a net score of 62 Sunday to take first-place in the one-man scramble event at the Carson Valley Golf Course. Menezes shot 65 and Dennis Patterson 66 to round out the top three in Flight A. Prause and Menezes have combined to win four of the last six club tournaments.

Joe Morrison shot 64 to take first-place in Flight B, ahead of Bruce Sanford's 68 and Chuck Householder's 72.

Larry Lockwood was the winner in Flight C with a score of 70, while Jim Tavernier and Gary Carsten tied for second at 74 (Tavernier was awarded the runner-up spot on a tie-breaker.

In the one-man scramble format, each player hits two balls on each hole and then plays his best shot.

John Masiello and Nick Paul combined to win Flight A with a net score of 43 on Aug. 6 during the Empire Ranch Senior Men's Golf Club two-man teams, best ball tournament at the Incline Village Mountain Course.

Masiello and Paul finished five shots ahead of Gary Dalen and Tim Morsani at 48. Robey Willis and Geoff Swann finished one shot behind in third-place. Ken Stone and Jim Sand also shot 49 and finished fourth on the tie-breaker.

In Flight B, Jim Green and John Lewis shot 42 to take first-place. Peter Youngdahl and Richard Ziegler shot 44 for second-place. George Lamer and Rich Bremenour shot 45 to finish third. Chuck Bell and Bob Bloom shot 46 to finish fourth.

Ken Stone was the closest-to-the-pin winner on the fourth hole, Tom Harlow on No. 7, Gary Dale on No. 12 and Lewis on No. 17.
