With the league season now at its midway mark, the Douglas Tigers and Carson Senators are set to renew their basketball rivalry.
And when Carson hosts Douglas on Tuesday, both the girls and boys teams will be jockeying for playoff spots in the Sierra League. The girls start at 5:15 p.m. and the boys play at 7 p.m.
A share of first-place is at stake for the Douglas (9-6, 5-3) boys against Carson (6-2). James Herrick 14 points and 15 points for the Tigers in their 51-46 win Friday at Hug. The Tigers have won their last three games and five of six.
The Douglas girls (13-6 overall, 6-2 league) are looking for their third straight win after running past Hug, 60-21. The Tigers will need to bring their A-game against Carson (5-3).
“The atmosphere over there is always special,” coach Werner Christen said. “The only thing, I wish we were playing on a Friday. I think all game Douglas-Carson games should be played on Fridays, but even on a Tuesday night, we’ll have a good crowd.”
