The Douglas High girls soccer team will celebrate “Senior Day” on Saturday when it hosts Bishop Manogue in a key Sierra League contest.
An 11 a.m. start is scheduled for the varsity girls game. The JV girls game starts at 9 a.m.
Douglas (9-1-2), a 7-1 victor at McQueen on Tuesday, is tied with Carson for first-place in the league, with Galena and Manogue in pursuit. The Tigers scored two second-half goals in a 3-1 victory at Manogue on Sept. 20.
“We’re expecting a tough game,” Douglas coach Jenny Jaggard said earlier this week. “Manogue has a good team and I’m sure they’ve improved a ton since we played them. I think everybody has.”
With their win at McQueen, the Tigers remained tied for first-place with the Carson Senators, who rallied for a 3-1 win against Spanish Springs on Tuesday.
The Douglas-Manogue boys game has been rescheduled for Oct. 28, according to coach Vince Brown.
Douglas is coming off a 2-2 tie on Wednesday at McQueen. Seniors Tristan Cohee and Emilio Magana scored goals for the Tigers.
