Galena volleyball tops Douglas

The Douglas High volleyball team lost 3-0 on Wednesday against Galena in Reno.

Galena, which improved its second-place Sierra League record to 8-3, won the match by scores of 25-17, 25-12, 25-19.

Sophomore setter Nikki Hamada had 10 assists and Shelby Van Winkle 7 for Douglas. Hamada had 21 assists last Thursday for the Tigers in their match against Wooster.

Douglas (1-10, 17-13) plays again on Tuesday in Reno against McQueen, the High Desert League’s second-place team.


Douglas remained undefeated with a 2-1 win against Galena. The Tigers won by game scores of 22-25, 25-13, 15-11.

Emma Sperry had a double-double for Douglas (18-0) as she handed out 14 assists to go with 10 service points. Raychel Allen also had 11 digs.


Galena defeated Douglas 2-0. The game scores were 25-19, 25-23.

The Tigers are now 13-5 on the season.
