Jaggard named new Douglas High varsity soccer coach

When Jenny Jaggard played soccer for Douglas High School in 2003, she never expected she would be back 10 years later to coach the Douglas varsity team.

“Growing up, I never thought of the possibility of being the Douglas High coach,” she said. “It’s great to come full circle.” Jaggard has been the Douglas High junior varsity coach for the last five years, so she will know most of her players going into the season.

“I’m pretty excited about it,” she said. “I know a lot of them. We’ve got a lot of talent. It’s going to be a good year.”

Jaggard has lived in Carson Valley most of her life and played soccer for most of that time.

“I think I officially started with AYSO in the fourth grade when I was 10 or 11 years old,” she said. “It’s been fun, I really enjoy it.”

She was home schooled, playing soccer for a Douglas team that went to the post season. She earned a scholarship with Southwest Baptist University in Missouri, where she graduated in May 2008.

“That’s when I came back home and got the job as the JV coach,” she said.

The 28-year-old teaches at Grace Christian Academy.

“I’m really grateful for the opportunity,” she said. “I love the community, and I love that Douglas High has such a great following for girl’s soccer.”
