The Carson Valley Girls Softball Association recently closed its 2013 season with a jamboree and a series of championship games at Stodick Park in Gardnerville. More than 280 young athletes participated in the recreation league this spring.
“Our goal is to have provided a positive softball experience for these young ladies,” said CVGSA President Joey McNinch. “Our board of directors, volunteers, coaches, umpires and parents have invested a lot of time to make this softball program a success. I appreciate the commitment from each of them.”
Championship titles were won by Kim Neff’s Red Robins (8U division), Jeanine Bluehorse’s Purple Rein (10U division), Ed Doughty’s Ballerz (13U division) and Don Swan’s Prodigy (senior division).
The CVGSA is a fast pitch softball league for girls between the ages of 4 and 18. The league offers recreational play in the spring and has traveling tournament teams for athletes looking to play at the competitive level.
