Sierra Lutheran High School graduate Wade Meddles capped off a strong comeback season Saturday with an 11th-place finish in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Meddles, who transferred in to Eastern Kentucky this year from Azusa Pacific, ran a 14:05.42 in the event, which was good enough for second-team All-American honors.
Arizona’s Lawi Lalang won the national championship in the event with at time of 13:35.19 while Meddles finished in the front half of the field of 24.
Meddles earned first-team All-American honors in cross country during the fall after finishing 36th at the national championships.
He was a multi-time state champion in both track and cross country at Sierra Lutheran and won the Gatorade Runner of the Year award for the state.
