Baseball: Eight Northern Nevada players drafted

A number of baseball players with Northern Nevada ties were drafted in last week’s Major League Baseball Amateur Player Draft, including several who appeared on Douglas’ Tiger Field this season. Leading the charge regionally was University of Nevada pitcher Braden Shipley, who went to Arizona with the 15th pick of the first round. The 6-3, 190-pound right-hander had been projected as high at No. 6 in some mock drafts, but will start his career with the parent organization of the Reno Aces Triple-A baseball club.
