Locals compete at junior satellite event

The first stage of the nine-event Northern Nevada Junior Satellite Tennis Tournament Series was recently conducted at the Reno Tennis Center.

Maggie Rich, 14, competed in the girls 14 challenger division. She lost her first contest 6-0, 2-6, 6-3 but went on to win two matches and the consolation bracket title with a finals score of 6-0, 6-3.

In a bold move, Angelina Spinnato, 8, chose to play her first tournament in the girls 12 challenger division. Though having the better stroke quality, she lost 6-2, 6-1 to the eventual champion, learning a lot in the process.

Madelyn Landerfelt, 14, has played in a handful of NorCal event in the 14s and 16s divisions and has constantly finished in the top four.
