Golfers 5th after Day 1

The Douglas High boys golf team stood in fifth place after the first day of the Northern Division I Regional Championships at Red Hawk Golf Resort on Monday.

Manogue led the pack with a team score of 397, followed by Reno at 402, Galena at 419 and Damonte at 430.

Douglas shot a 432, coming in ahead of Spanish Springs, Reed, McQueen, Carson, North Valleys and Hug in order.

Manogue’s Nick Turner led the individual standings after shooting a 74.

Douglas’ Shane Pyle shot an 80, good enough to tie for sixth heading into the final day of the tournament.

Colin Brooks shot an 84, Gary Schlee shot an 88, Cody Tindel shot an 89, Zander Ghan shot a 91 and Mike Doyle shot a 100.

In the final tune-up before the championships, Douglas turned in a solid performance at Wolf Run.

Colin Brooks fired a 78 to lead the Tigers.

Pyle shot an 84, Cody Tindel shot an 85, Mike Doyle came in at 87, Gary Schlee shot an 89 and Zander Ghan shot a 93.
