Baseball: Douglas falls to Galena, drops out of first place

The Douglas baseball team struggled to get its bats going until the final inning Saturday afternoon and suffered a 6-3 loss to Galena as a result. Douglas dropped to 9-3 in league play and into third place after losing its third contest in four games. Despite the nine combined runs scored, the game was a pitchers’ duel throughout between Douglas’ Nolan Weintz and Galena’s Wyatt Nebe. Both pitchers struck out three and Weintz allowed just two earned runs compared to Nebe’s three. Dillon Lopez had Douglas’ lone hit through the first five innings — a one-out single in the bottom …
