Tennis: TenBroeck wins tennis scholarship

The Biggest Little Tennis Association, based out of Reno, recently awarded Douglas High senior Kari TenBroeck with one of its player scholarships.

The scholarships are given annually to high school seniors who have participated in the United States Tennis Association, high school tennis and/or other organized youth tennis programs in the greater Truckee Meadows area.

Carson High’s Casey Reid and Galena’s Hallie Taylor each won $750 awards and TenBroeck and Galena’s Matthew Dobrowski earned $500 awards. Reno’s Luke Smith and Galena’s Bailie Reinhardt won $250 awards.

Awards are forwarded to the college the winners attend after graduation from high school.

Aside from an accomplished career on the youth circuit, TenBroeck clinched state high school berths for Douglas in 2012, 2011 and 2009 and posted a career record 130-15 over four seasons. She won the regional singles championship in 2009 and clinched No. 1 seeds heading into the regional tournament in 2011 and 2012.
