Basche wins three gold medals at state meet

Tumbleweeds Trampoline and Tumbling (T&T) competed at the Nevada State Region 2 Championships on May 3 hosted by T&T Legacy Gymnastics in Reno.

The championship event allowed athletes in age groups 8-and-under to 15-and-over competing in levels 3 thru Junior National Elite to compete for state championships and post a qualifying score for USA Gymnastics T&T National Competition.

The meet marked the end of the competition season for some athletes, however, many will go on to compete at the Trampoline and Tumbling Region 1 and 2 meet May 23-25 in Santa Clara, Calif.

Competing at this year’s state championships for Tumbleweeds T&T Gymnastics, and representing the communities of Carson Valley, Carson City, Lake Tahoe and Wellington were Carly Steele, Andrew McMenemy, Venture Bruner, Logan Nelson, Gwenavere Christy, Tyra Best, Branden Basche and Mason Ogan.

“Several athletes had first-place podium sweeps and they all should be extremely proud of their performances and their scores,” coach Matt Coyle said of the team. “The athletes and parents do credit not only to themselves, but to the community. I am really proud of all my athletes and the support that receive from their parent. I can’t wait to see how they perform at Regionals in a couple weeks.”

Individual athlete placements are as follows:
