Moving up to an older age group presented no obstacle to the CV United U-13 girls soccer team last weekend in Carson City.
CV United won three of four games against teams from Idaho and California to win the U-14 age group championship at the 21st Comstock Shootout girls soccer tournament. The Carson Valley squad defeated Pacific FC Storm (Lodi, Calif.), 1-0, Sunday in the championship game at Edmonds Sports Complex.
The final was a rematch, since CV United lost its second game of the tournament, a 2-1 decision against Pacific Storm on Saturday afternoon.
Ahlyssa Jordan Gonzalez, who is in her fifth season with the team, scored the only goal and CV United’s defense made it stand to win the championship game.
CV United was a 3-1 victor in its opening game against FC Black Nova (Meridian, Idaho). Sedona Robinson scored two goals and Maya Smith scored once.
Peri Buck scored the only goal for CV United in its narrow loss against Pacific Storm.
Robinson and Smith scored two goals each to lead CV United past Soccer Xpress Team Heat (Boise, Idaho), 4-2, Sunday morning in the semifinals.
CV United is coached by Jeremy Weston, Tim Smith and Freddy Gonzalez.
