The Sierra Lutheran boys basketball team lost to Wells 44-24 Thursday in the first round of the Division IV Northern Region Tournament in Reno.
Wells (20-6) led start to finish at Wooster High School to defeat the Falcons, who ended their season with a 15-9 record.
“To work that hard to get there (and not be successful); we were disappointed,” coach Alan Reed said. “A whole host of things went wrong. It just wasn’t the Falcons’ day.”
Michael Patrick scored 11 points and Evan Lewis had 9 rebounds for the Falcons.
“The kids had a good season and I’m proud of them. They just weren’t able to get the job done that day,” Reed said.
In Division IV girls tournament action, Coleville lost 40-12 against Eureka at North Valleys. Stephanie Sandoval scored 4 points to lead the Wolves offensively, while Nicole Smith contributed 7 rebounds and 5 steals. The Wolves ended their season at 14-8.
