Tigers sweep past Senators

One season ended for the Douglas High School boys and girls basketball teams on Friday, and both squads went out with postseason momentum-building victories in their rivalry games against Carson.

The Tigers’ girls led off with a 46-35 win, sparked by a 26-2 run bridging the second and third quarters. Then the boys followed with a 52-44 win, aided by a 12-2 run to start the fourth quarter, before a standing room only crowd at Randy Green Gym.

The Douglas girls (19-8, 12-4) open in the playoffs Tuesday at home against Spanish Springs. The boys (13-10, 9-7) open Wednesday against High Desert League champion Reed.
