The R-C Morning Report for July 29

Two fires are burning in Yosemite National Park, which have forced closures of areas in the vicinity and threaten the towns of El Portal and Foresta. The El Portal fire is at 2,600 acres and has claimed a structure. The Dark Hole fire is at 590 acres. We may see drift smoke after the present weather pattern clears out.

A landscaper who was sent to prison for taking jewelry from homes he was working on is scheduled to appear in Douglas District Court today. Cesar Dominic Hartman, 24, is out on parole and is to set up a payment plan today for the $9,427 loss to the victims.

I got .12 inches of rain in Genoa last night, but I see from poking around other rain gauges that the rest of the Valley didn’t see too much precipitation. Expect scattered thunderstorms today after noon. The high is expected to hit 85 degrees under otherwise partly cloudy skies.
