Frank George Taylor, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22nd, 2024, in Reno, Nevada.
Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Frank cherished many memories of his childhood, especially playing ball with his brother Dennis. After graduating high school, he went on to earn a civil engineering degree from Michigan Tech in 1964. He began his engineering career with the New York Department of Transportation before moving to Nevada in 1968 with his first wife, Bonnie, and their young children, Tracey and Clark. The family soon grew with the arrival of their third child, Kathleen.
Frank dedicated 36 years to the Nevada Department of Transportation, building a successful career alongside a growing family. He married his second wife, Ginger, and welcomed Patrick and Meghan during their marriage. Later, in 2000, he found love again when he met April. He embraced her daughters, Ariel and Sierra Sanchez, as his own, showing them boundless love and fatherly support. Throughout his life, Frank became a loving grandfather to 16 beautiful grandchildren, who brought out his tender and playful side, especially when sharing in cherished family traditions and activities.
Beyond his dedication to work and family, Frank nurtured a rich and active life. For 55 years, the Kit Carson Toastmasters Club was his social haven. He fostered cherished friendships with fellow members and achieved the esteemed title of Distinguished Toastmaster. A lifelong sportsman, Frank actively participated in collegiate and adult leagues for baseball, basketball, bowling, and golf. He extended his love of sports by coaching various adult and youth teams throughout the years. He also enjoyed running, competing in community events and conquering marathons in multiple states.
Off the court and field, Frank's mind stayed sharp with chess games, historical novels, and the challenge of a difficult crossword. His passion for U.S. history, a lifelong fascination, perfectly complemented his evenings spent watching Jeopardy! Whether it was sharing a joke, belting out a karaoke tune, or participating in the Carson Follies with his "comedic" talents, Frank's personality was infectious. His honesty, resilience, and strong sense of responsibility were hallmarks of his character. He was known for his intelligence, quick wit, and fierce dedication to his loved ones. And never to be forgotten, his unwavering loyalty as a Buffalo Bills fan.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom at the Brewery Arts Center located at 449 W. King St. Carson City, NV 89703
