North Sails product manufacturing operation is out of action after a two-alarm fire early Monday morning.
Seven employees were working in the Minden company’s Business Parkway building at 3:06 a.m. when the fire broke out in a product manufacturing machine.
All the workers safely evacuated the building before East Fork firefighters arrived on scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters saw flames in the machinery area and called for a second alarm.
About two-dozen firefighters in five engines, a squad and an ambulance responded to the blaze.
The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes of firefighters’ arrival.
Crews remained on scene through the morning clearing smoke from the 52,000-square-foot building. No one was hurt in the fire, according to East Fork Fire Capt. Terry Taylor
Company officials are assessing the damage to equipment that manufactures the material the company makes sails from.
Taylor estimated the damage to equipment at $250,000, with minor damage to the building’s electrical system.
The investigation into the cause has revealed there was no human error involved.
