Driver booked for DUI after vehicle ends up on boulders

A Gardnerville Ranchos man was jailed Tuesday afternoon on charges of driving under the influence following a single-vehicle accident in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

Jeff James, 44, posted $1,731 bail, and is set for arraignment Jan. 6 in East Fork Justice Court. James was booked on charges of driving under the influence with no priors and driving too fast for conditions.

The accident occurred at 12:34 p.m. near the intersection of Drayton Boulevard and Silveranch Drive.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen said James was traveling westbound on Drayton Boulevard in a 2006 Subaru Outback.

He said the driver attempted to turn left and took the corner too fast.

“The vehicle drifted off the right edge of the pavement on Silveranch, went over the curb, through shrubbery, and came to rest on boulders,” Allen said.

James was not injured, and there were no passengers in the vehicle, according to the NHP.

Allen said James failed a series of field sobriety tests and was taken to Douglas County Jail where he submitted to an evidentiary blood test.

Allen said test results would be available in four to six weeks.

James is a Gardnerville Ranchos General Improvement District trustee.
