Man responsible for TRE fire in jail for probation violation

A Topaz Ranch Estates man who was ordered to make more than a half million dollars in restitution for the 7,500-acre TRE fire, and given three years probation for stealing copper is in jail on a probation violation. Steven Walter Cozad, 31, had been out of jail for less than four months before he was arrested on Wednesday. Cozad faces a three-year prison sentence in connection with a March 31 theft from a Foothill Road ranch. Cozad was also convicted of misdemeanor burning trash, waste, rubbish or toxic material in June. He was ordered to pay $556,759 in restitution for …
