It’s not too late to walk in memory and walk for hope Saturday during the Suicide Prevention Network of Douglas County’s annual fundraiser.
Registration for the two-mile walk is 8 a.m. at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville.
“Its not just a memory walk but also an awareness walk for the prevention,” Executve Director Debbie Posnien said. “We just had another suicide last week again so we are up to 10. Something is happening out there and we need to come together as a community for awareness.”
The event includes vendors and exhibits set up on the museum lawn including Tahoe Youth & Family Services, Vitality for Life, West Hills Hospital and others.
“All these resources are for people to improve their mental health,” Posnien said.
The Knights of Columbus are serving a pancake, eggs and bacon breakfast 8 to 9 a.m. for $6 for adults and $3 for children under age 10.
Memory signs are also available for a $10 donation that will be displayed on the museum lawn for three days following the walk.
