Two Douglas students hurt in motorcycle accident

Two Douglas High School students were hurt when the motorcycle they were on crashed in the school’s parking lot at 9:47 p.m. Monday.

The names of the students are being withheld because they are both 17 years old.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Dan Lopez said the male and female were on an unregistered 2007 Yamaha motorcycle when the male decided to go fast. The male hit a puddle and lost control of the motorcycle, and both were thrown from the motorcycle, according to Lopez.

The girl, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, received a compound fracture to her leg and was helicoptered to Renown Regional Medical Center. The male, who was wearing a helmet, received a minor head injury.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation. No citations had been issued.
