The Douglas County Lands Bill should be introduced in Congress after the Easter break County Manager Steve Mokrohisky told members of the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.
Taking over for TRPA
County commissioners will discuss a contract between the county and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency to delegate permitting authority to Douglas County for residential construction at Lake Tahoe. This is part of the TRPA’s new plan that’s being challenged by the Sierra Club. County commissioners meet 1:30 p.m. at the Tahoe Transportation Center.
It was a windy Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service with peak winds clocked at 66 mph in Carson Valley on Highway 395 north of Minden and 65 mph at Sheridan Acres. Winds shearing off power poles caused outages in Carson City.
Not much moisture
While the storm brought a lot of wind, it didn’t do much for the snow pack. Carson Pass, which is leading the Carson River Basin with 87 percent average moisture has picked up an additional 2.4 inches of moisture since the beginning of March. That compares to 2.6 inches through the months of January and February. Ebbetts Pass picked up 3.4 inches since the beginning of the month, which is better than the inch of moisture that fell there in February.
Sunny skies today
Today’s not going to do much for the snowpack either with sunny skies and a high near 58 degrees. The wind will be out of the north at 5-10 mph
