Snow tires or chains are required over Kingsbury and along Highway 50 at Lake Tahoe this morning as we awake to the third day in a row with snow on the ground. Not much snow, mind you, but a little bit. Highway 88 is requiring chains or four-wheel drive over Carson Pass, but 50 and 80 look pretty clear this morning.
The real weather fun is further south where a big rig is blocking the slow lane of Highway 395 at Deadman Summit, the California Highway Patrol reported at 6 a.m. They had another on 395 at Horseshoe Curve around 4 a.m.
Heavenly Ski Resort is reporting they received two feet of snow over the past week, with 5 inches of that over the last 24 hours. Kirkwood reported getting 4-6 inches over the past 24 hours.
We’re supposed to see a few more snow showers today, but little or no accumulation. Today’s forecast is mostly cloudy with a high near 43 and the wind out of the northeast at 5 mph. The storm should clear tonight leaving sunny skies over the weekend.
