Initial crash report
An initial report on an April 14 airplane crash that killed two people in the Pine Nuts was issued Friday by the National Transportation Safety Board. The investigator puts the time of the time of the crash at 8:50 p.m., 9 minutes after a 71 mph wind gust was clocked in Sheridan Acres. The plane was found on the southeast slope 200 feet from the ridge of Bald Mountain.
Douglas County commissioners and South Lake Tahoe City Council members will be meeting 1 p.m. today on a variety of issues that affect Stateline and the city, including planning on parks and trails, the area plans, transportation and the bills at the Nevada and California legislatures that would split up the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency. They’re meeting at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel, 4130 Lake Tahoe Blvd., in South Lake.

Expect sunny skies today with a high temperature of 83 degrees. The wind will be out of the east 5-15 mph shifting to the west and gusting to 25 mph later this morning. Expect a cool-down on Tuesday with the high dropping to 69 degrees. It will warm up a bit during the week. There’s no freeze forecast for this week.
