The R-C Morning Report for Oct. 17

This morning, President Obama signed the continuing appropriations act, which funds the government through Jan. 15, 2014 and extends the debt limit until Feb. 7, 2014, according to Whitehouse.gov. The news hasn’t gotten to the federal websites yet.

There was a 2.63 earthquake in the Wassuk Mountains southwest of Hawthorne at about 7:15 p.m. Only one person reported feeling it on the website.

This morning, The R-C staff will be participating in the Great Nevada Shakeout. The quake starts at 10:17 a.m. Have fun.

County commissioners meet at 1:30 p.m. today in Stateline to make adjustments to their Lake Tahoe plan to meet conditions of approval by the TRPA. Also up, discussion and possible approval of the county’s hazard mitigation plan.

Expect sunny skies with a high of 69 degrees today. The wind this afternoon with be out of the northeast at 5-10 mph. It’s not so cold today, only freezing.
