RC Morning Report for April 8
April 8, 2013
No snow in Valley this morning
There won’t be any snow on the daffodil photos this morning, since the snow level didn’t drop far enough for us to have snow. The National Weather Service is sticking to its forecast and we may see a snow shower this morning. Up in the mountains, chain controls are in effect for Kingsbury Grade, on Highway 50 over Spooner Summit and on 88 over Carson Pass. Heavenly’s reporting 3-4 inches of new snow overnight. We got slightly less than a tenth of an inch in the Valley.
Sentencing in stalking case, maybe
A 31-year-old Gardnerville man facing 5-16 years in prison may try to withdraw his plea this morning after he fired his attorney last week. David Springer pleaded guilty to stalking and threatening a deputy with a knife. In February Springer admitted the two felonies, but last week he told the judge he just wanted a fair trial. Springer was convicted of child abuse in 2009 after he admitted hitting an 11-year-old child. Springer is scheduled to be sentenced this morning.
A bigfoot walks into a bar
The Animal Planet “Finding Bigfoot” crew shot in the Genoa Bar on Saturday for about four hours. Barkeep Willy Webb said they missed the big guy, who came in on Friday to play pool. Good player, but Willy said he could use a shower and some deodorant.
School’s back in
School’s back in session today after Spring Break. Watch out for the buses and school children walking to school this morning.
